Our Saturday night program includes a banquet, presentation of the World Owl Hall of Fame Awards, a showing of winning owl videos from Nepal, and presentations by the Champion of Owls award winner.

Dr. Heimo Mikkola - Finland

Champion of Owls Award

Dr. Mikkola has traveled to 128+ countries and has spent 48 years working with owls.  He has authored some 150 books and papers on owls including his most well-known books: "Owls of Europe" and "Owls of the World: A Photographic Guide." 


The Nepal Owl Festival is hosting an owl film documentary contest, and the top three films (3-5 minutes each in length) will be shown at the banquet.

    Roasted Vegetables with Tofu (vegan)

  • Poppy Seed Salad
  • Dessert


5:00 PM Social Hour & Cash Bar, 6:00 PM Meal. Program to follow the meal. Saturday, March 8, 2014, Valley High Golf Club (7.5 miles east of Houston off Highway 16)

Cost is $35/person to attend the banquet and presentation ($30 for Friends of the Houston Nature Center members). Cost is $45/person if registering March 3 or later. Limit 135. Pre-registration required, and this event is expected to sell out.
